Poche squadre, sospesa la Champion's femminile

Ecco di seguito nella versione originale ed integrale il comunicato stampa diffuso dal Press Office ETTU a tutti gli uffici stampa europei della disciplina.
ETTU suspended Women’s European Champions League
In the wake of the global financial crisis, even table tennis have to pay for international recession’s negative impact on most of our National Associations and Clubs.
Because less than six clubs entered the Women’s European Champions League 2010-2011, the ETTU Executive Board reluctantly decided to suspend this event for the coming season.
“We felt very sorry for suspending this event - ETTU President Stefano BOSI argued – but unfortunately we had no alternatives at our disposal. Such top international events are rather expensive and we’ve to be pragmatic until turning our backs on everything. Not by chance, Men’s ECL is tackling same difficulties too, as shown by the lower number of applications, 14 instead of 16. We’ve not to make a drama out of this, although it was a sad decision indeed. According to overall trend, all of us have the duty to keep costs and finances under control, there will be better times…”
The future of Women’s ECL will be a matter to be discussed throughly during next Executive Board meeting and the ETTU will come up with some solutions to be discussed with the clubs, most probably in Ostrava during the LIEBHERR European Championships.
Of course, ETTU will grant to every club the possibility to enter the Women’s ETTU Cup meantime.
